二字・三字信号の例

文字旗で言葉を作る

・	船舶の通信のために世界共通で使われる旗が「国際信号旗」で、アルファベットの文字旗26枚、数字旗10枚、代表旗3枚、回答旗1枚の合計40枚で構成されます。
・	「国際信号旗」を掲げておけば、その船の状態（火災・操縦困難・試運転、投網中など）を周りの船舶に知らせながら航行・停泊することができます。
・	言語の違いなどに関わりなく意志の疎通をはかるために、あらかじめよく使う文例を1～3文字の記号に割り当て、国際的に統一したものを「国際信号」と言います。
・	その文字と信号の意味などまとめたものが「国際信号書・ International Code of Signal 」で、「国際信号」は、主に旗を使った旗旒（きりゅう）信号として用いられる他、無線電信や無線電話でも使われることがあります。「国際信号書」は、1969年から使われ始めました。

・	船舶が祝意を表わすために、国際信号旗を船首から船尾へ連ねて飾ることを『満船飾』と言います。（軍艦の場合は「満艦飾」とも言います）　［リンク］「帆船日本丸」の満船飾

　文字旗 (Alphabetical Flags ・アルファベット旗)

・旗の下の文言は「一字信号」で、その旗一枚だけで意味を表す通信に使います。緊急、重要、または最も多く使用される通信文が決められています。

A Alfa

私（本船）は潜水夫をおろしている。微速で十分さけよ。
I have a diver down; keep well clear at slow speed.

B Bravo

私（本船）は危険物を荷役中、または運送中である。
I am taking in, or discharging, or carrying dangerous goods.

C Charlie

Yes （イエス！・はい・肯定）
Yes (affirmative or “The significance of the previous group should be read in the affirmative”).

D Delta

私（本船）をさけよ。私（本船）は操縦が困難である。
Keep clear of me; I am maneuvering with difficulty.

E Echo

私（本船）は針路を右に変えている。
I am altering my course to starboard.

F Foxtrot

私（本船）は操縦ができない。私（本船）と通信せよ。
I am disabled; communicate with me.

G Golf

私（本船）は水先人がほしい。漁場で接近して操業している漁船で：私（本船）は揚網中である。
I require a pilot. When made by fishing vessels operating in close proximity on the fishing grounds it means: “I am hauling nets”.

H Hotel

私（本船）は水先人を乗せている。
I have a pilot on board.

I India

私（本船）は針路を左に変えている。
I am altering my course to port.

J Juliett

私（本船）を十分避けよ。私（本船）は火災中で、危険貨物を積んでいる。または、私（本船）は危険貨物を流出させている。
I am on fire and have dangerous cargo on board: keep well clear of me, or I am leaking dangerous cargo.

K Kilo

私（本船）はあたな（貴船）と通信したい。
I wish to communicate with you.

L Lima

あなた（貴船）はすぐに停船されたい。
You should stop your vessel instantly.

M Mike

本船は停船している。行き足はない。
My vessel is stopped and making no way through the water.

N November

No （ノー！・いいえ・否定）
No (negative or “The significance of the previous group should be read in the negative”). This signal may be given only visually or by sound. For voice or radio transmission the signal should be “NO”.

O Oscar

人が海中に落ちた。
Man overboard.

P Papa

港内で：本船は出港しようとしている。全員帰船されたい。洋上での漁船で：本船の漁網が障害物にひっかかっている。
In harbor.:All persons should report on board as the vessel is about to proceed to sea. At sea.:It may be used by fishing vessels to mean: “My nets have come fast upon an obstruction”. It may also be used as a sound to mean: “I require a pilot”.

Q Quebec

本船は健康である。検疫交通許可書を交付されたい。
My vessel is “healthy” and I request free pratique.

I am operating astern propulsion.
