朝の月と惑星 Moon and Planets in the Morning

先週の金曜日、3つの明るい惑星と月が朝の空を彩りました。水星、金星、土星、そして細い三日月が夜明けの薄明かりの中、東の地平線近くに見えたこの美しい合の写真は、ドイツのネルトリンゲン近郊で撮影されました。これらの惑星は現在離れており、水星は昇る太陽に向かって沈んでいきます。しかし、今週は空全体を観察すれば、火星が真夜中頃に昇り、木星が日没後に明るく輝くので、木星と火星も惑星観測リストに追加できるはずです。実際、ガリレオよりも木星をよく見たいなら、次の数回のガリレオの夜（10月22日～24日）に行われる2009年国際天文学年の活動やイベントをチェックしてみると良いでしょう。

Last Friday, a gathering of three bright planets and the Moon graced the morning sky. With Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and a narrow lunar crescent close to the eastern horizon in the dawn twilight, this picture of the beautiful conjunction was recorded near Noerdlingen, Germany. These planets are wandering apart now and Mercury is sinking closer toward the rising Sun. But if you also scan the rest of the sky this week you should be able to add Jupiter and Mars to your planet spotting list, as Mars rises around midnight and Jupiter shines brightly after sunset. In fact, if you want a better view of Jupiter than Galileo had, you might check out the 2009 International Year of Astronomy activities and events during these next few Galilean Nights (October 22-24).
