これはどんな日食でしょうか？日曜日、地球の南半球の一部で、月が太陽の一部を覆い隠す部分日食が見られました。しかし、場所によっては、金環日食と呼ばれる珍しいタイプの部分日食となりました。そこでは、月が地球から遠すぎるため太陽全体を覆い隠すことができず、太陽光が月の縁に沿って流れ、「火の輪」を作り出しました。また、ある時期には、珍しいタイプの金環日食となりました。その際、月の縁が太陽の縁とほぼ一直線になり、太陽光が月の低い部分だけを透過しました。「ベイリーのビーズ」または「ダイヤモンドリング」と呼ばれるこの非常に珍しい現象は、日曜日、南米アルゼンチンのチュブ州で撮影された特集写真に捉えられました。今年の夏には、皆既日食が北アメリカを横断します。Almost Hyperspace: Random APOD Generator

What kind of eclipse is this? On Sunday, visible in parts of Earth's southern hemisphere, the Moon blocked part of the Sun during a partial solar eclipse. In some locations, though, the effect was a rare type of partial eclipse called an annular eclipse. There, since the Moon is too far from the Earth to block the entire Sun, sunlight streamed around the edges of the Moon creating a "ring of fire". At some times, though, the effect was a rare type of annular eclipse. Then, an edge of the Moon nearly aligned with an edge of the Sun, allowing sunlight to stream through only low areas on the Moon. Called a "Baily's bead" or a "diamond ring", this doubly rare effect was captured Sunday in the feature photograph from Chubut, Argentina, in South America.
